When Homeschool Feels Like Too Much

Overwhelm is not a character flaw. It is a signal that your inputs exceed your capacity — too many curricula bookmarked, too many relatives with opinions, too many tabs open at midnight.

This page is a reset, not a lecture. Do the next small thing. Ignore the rest for seven days.

This week only: three tasks

If you…Do this
Have NOT filed LOIRead Florida requirements, mail/email Letter of Intent
HAVE filedPut copy in folder labeled “Portfolio” — done

Task 2 — Curriculum (45 minutes)

  1. Open Homeschool Complete free lessons
  2. Do one lesson with your child
  3. If it goes okay, you have a curriculum candidate for next month

No perfect choice exists. Good enough this month beats perfect never.

Curriculum hub if you want context later — not today.

Task 3 — One human (10 minutes)

Minimum viable homeschool day

When everything is on fire, run this only:

BlockTimeWhat
Reading20 minLesson or read-aloud
Math20 minOne lesson or review
Connection10 minRead aloud at bedtime

Log it on a sticky note: Tue — LA, math, read-aloud. That is a school day. Portfolio: photo one page.

Week 2: add one thing (only one)

Pick one:

  • Science twice this week
  • Handwriting twice
  • 20-min walk labeled “PE”
  • Call a co-op contact

Do not add all four.

What to ignore temporarily

  • Comparison to other moms on Instagram
  • Buying a second curriculum “just in case”
  • Signing up for four activities
  • Rewriting your schedule daily

When overwhelm might be burnout (get help)

Talk to a doctor or counselor if you have:

  • Sleep cannot restore you for weeks
  • Panic attacks around school time
  • Rage at your child during every lesson

Homeschool can wait a day. Your health cannot.
