Fifth Grade Curriculum

Fifth grade prepares students for middle school with essay writing, pre-algebra readiness, U.S. and state history, and experimental science. The 4 core + 1 review + 1 project day week continues through the end of elementary. Florida homeschool requirements are met with a portfolio and annual evaluation.


What Fifth Grade Covers

  • Language arts — Essay writing, research, analysis, and grammar for middle school.
  • Mathematics — Fractions, decimals, geometry, and pre-algebra foundations.
  • Science — Experimental science, data, and scientific reasoning.
  • Social studies — U.S. history, Florida history, civics, and geography.

Weekly Structure

  • 4 core days — Focused lessons in the core four subjects.
  • 1 review day — Practice and catch-up.
  • 1 project day — Flex for projects or pacing.
